CURRENT APPOINTMENTS

I am at present a full-time Associate Professor in the School of Education and Pedagogy at UPB-Medellin. My primary appointment is with the Doctorate in Education. There, I teach courses on critical theory and qualitative research and advise three doctoral students. My secondary appointment is at the BA in Spanish-English Education, where I teach language methods courses and direct all the senior theses from the undergraduate researchers at the Literacies in Second Languages Project. 

Previous work at the School of Education and Pedagogy involved my participation in the MA in Learning and Teaching Processes in Second Languages (Maestría en Procesos de Aprendizaje y Enseñanza de Segundas Lenguas) or ML2, where I was also the project leader for the ML2 program creation (August 2011-December 2012) and its first program coordinator (January 2013-June 2016) and taught seminars on literacies and research. 

Most of my current research happens through the Literacies in Second Languages Project, a research lab I chair. There, I am  working and doing research with preservice teachers and graduate students interested in issues of second language literacies. I also belong to the Educations, Languages, and Learning Environments research group.

I also hold a visiting professorship at the Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education at Universidad del Valle. in its ELT Emphasis. I currently teach one course on language ecology and advise one doctoral student.
